Taking a Holiday for Rest and Relaxation

Life can get hectic. Oftentimes, we long for simplicity. Luckily, I found a destination that provides a needed escape from the mayhem of daily life.

On the eastern shore of Nova Scotia is a small town called Liscomb. This is a place where the tourists rarely come and the locals have never left. It is a lovely place where it becomes second nature to reacquaint yourself with nature.

On our holiday, we decided to stay at the Liscombe Lodge. This place is a dream come true for the nature lover. We shared a room in one of the cottages. Each
cottage has four bedrooms, each having their own living area and bathroom. You can have the entire cottage to yourself or opt to share to reduce the cost.

The Liscombe Lodge is located on the banks of the Liscomb River and provides wonderful views of the woodlands from the porch of the cottage. It’s a great place to curl up with a book in front of the fireplace.

While at the Lodge, there are many things to do to keep everyone entertained. There is a lovely indoor pool and a game room that is fully equipped with real games like shuffleboard, giant chess, hula hoops, table tennis, and foosball.

You can opt to take a guided hike out on the trials and get up close and personal with the rapids. There is also a river boat tour available. For families, there are many hands-on activities provided, such as making giant s’mores and building bird houses and feeders. One of my favorite parts were the stories around the fire, told by the owners.

The dining area at the lodge overlooks the river in all its splendor. You will see many birds visiting the bird feeders through the windows that are floor to ceiling. The food served can range from simple pancakes to salmon that was caught that same day. They also have some of the best lobster I have ever eaten. If you’re lucky, they may even let you help prepare the food! After dinner, they offered strawberry shortcakes that you could build yourself for dessert.

I must say, this was one of the most relaxing holidays my family and I have ever taken. If you are looking for a natural, scenic place to get away from it all, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.
